A new stage production adaptation of the 1987 classic starring Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey is currently in development by Lionsgate. ‘Dirty Dancing: The Musical’ is planned to debut in late 2025 with aspirations for Broadway and a major run in North America.
Eleanor Bergstein, the writer of the film’s screenplay, is developing the show and writing the book of the musical. Lonny Price, the Tony nominee who played Neil Kellerman in “Dirty Dancing,” will direct the re-envisioned production.
